Corn Bread (johnnycake) Recipe


Recipe Ingredients

1 c. cornmeal
1 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1/2 c. milk
4 tbsp. shortening



Cooking Directions

Mix and sift dry ingredients. Combine the eggs and milk and stir into the dry ingredients. Stir in melted fat and pour into a greased baking pan. Bake in hot oven (425 degrees) for about 25 minutes. A pan 9 x 9 inches yields 12 portions.
