French Fried Vidalia Onions Recipe
Recipe Ingredients
2 lbs. Vidalia onions, sliced 1/4 inch thickIce water
Cooking Directions
Separate onion slices into rings. Soak in ice water for 2 hours. This is important for crispy rings. Drain and dry thoroughly. Proceed to batter with the following:BATTER:
1 c. plain flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
1 egg, slightly beaten
Dip onion rings in batter. Fry in deep fat at 370 degrees until brown. Drain well on paper towels. Serve while warm. Sprinkle with salt just before serving. Serves 6-8.
