Cheese Filled Salisbury Steak Recipe


Recipe Ingredients

1 lb. extra lean or lean ground beef
1/4 c. crushed saltines, unsalted (8 crackers)
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. pepper
4 sticks cheese, 2 inches long by 1 inch thick (Swiss, Mozzarella, Cheddar)
10 1/2 oz. condensed beef broth
1/2 broth can water
1 lg. onion, sliced
1 tbsp. cornstarch



Cooking Directions

Mix thoroughly beef, crumbs, Worcestershire sauce and pepper. Shape into 4 oval patties. Enclose cheese stick in each patty, covering cheese completely. Brown with a little butter. In skillet, bring broth and water to boiling. Add patties. Surround with onions. Cover. Simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. Remove meat. Blend cornstarch with small amount of water. Stir into skillet, coking till thickened. Serve with rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes. Serves 4.
