2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
1/3 c. milk
3 c. blackberries
1 tsp. cinnamon

Cooking Directions

Place sugar and water in saucepan, cook and stir until sugar dissolves. Set aside. Place butter in 13"x9" baking dish or pan. Heat in oven at 350 degrees until melted. Set aside.
Add shortening to self-rising flour. Cut in until resembles coarse meal. Add milk, stir just until dry ingredients are moist. Turn out on floured surface and roll into 12"x9" rectangle. Spread blackberries over dough. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Roll up jelly roll fashion, beginning with long side. Cut dough into 12 slices (1" thick). Place in pan, cut side down in butter. Pour sugar syrup around sides. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes. 12 servings.
